Ohio Legislative Updates: Short-Term Rental Taxes, Liability Caps, and Property Reform

Ohio Legislative Updates: Short-Term Rental Taxes, Liability Caps, and Property Reform

This month’s legislative activity centers on the redraft of short-term rental tax legislation applying state and local sales taxes but missing key definitional updates. OHLA continues to advocate for true tax parity and balanced local regulation across the lodging industry. Lawmakers are also considering increases to liability caps, which business leaders warn could raise costs and hinder investment. Rising property taxes remain a major concern, prompting renewed efforts to pursue long-term reform and potential constitutional changes.
